Stock does not match

The shop shows a different stock figure than TRADElube, or an article is orderable that should not be. With a deviation the real work is narrowing down the cause: was the number delivered that way, configured that way, or handed over that way? This page walks the stations in that order. The checks assume you know how TRADElube keeps stock, namely per product and per store. The model is under stock.

Prerequisites

  • The product number of the product concerned and the figure you expect.
  • The channel the deviation shows up in.

Step by step

  1. Which figure does TRADElube hold, and on which record? Open the product and inside it the Stocks and Shipping section: one line per store. On an article with variants check the variant, not the parent article, because every variant keeps its own stock. If the wrong figure is already here, the cause lies upstream of the shop: in manual maintenance or in the system delivering stock to TRADElube. For the delivery direction then check the traces of the import task, the same route as in step 3, only on the delivering channel.

  2. Which store does the task transfer? If you keep several stores, the transfer plan of the stock task decides which of them goes into the shop. Most shops know exactly one stock figure per article. Open the task, Stocks Upload for instance, and inside it the Transfer Plan section. A figure that looks "wrong" in the shop is often the correct figure of the other store.

  1. Which figure did TRADElube last hand over? On the product open the Channels section, select the channel's row and open Show Traces, then the tab of the stock task. The kept content shows the number that actually went over the wire. That splits the case in two: if the right figure is there, the target system received it, and the clarification continues there. If the wrong one is, Executed At and Changes At say when it appeared, and the comparison of two states shows the transfer in which it changed.

  1. How fast does the task run? Part of the deviations is simply time lag: between two executions the shop keeps selling. The task's Performance field says how often it runs. A stock task can be set down to 30 seconds. If it is set to Manually, it only runs on Execute, and the shop stays as old as the last manual start.

  2. Nothing changed means nothing transferred. TRADElube only writes a figure again once it has changed. If the stock was adjusted by hand in the shop, TRADElube sees nothing of it, and the deviation remains until the figure in TRADElube changes or the task's Renewal Time retransfers the record on schedule. The immediate fix for this case is Restart on the row in the traces.

Checking the result

After the next execution the product's transfer in the stock task shows Modified, and the shop displays the figure from TRADElube. It is best to check on exactly the article the deviation was noticed on, and on the variant if it is one.

Frequent pitfalls

  • The stock sits on the parent article instead of the variant. The parent article has no stock figure that would apply to the family. What is orderable is the variant, and its number counts. Where the figure is maintained on the wrong record, which is what step 1 asks, the shop never sees it.
  • The number in the transfer is not the number in the shop. The figure from step 3 goes out per record, but some systems keep stock only on the variant and discard the figure on the parent article. What your system accepts and what it does not is on its page under channels and tasks, in its peculiarities and limits.
  • A second store never shows up anywhere by itself. A new store gives every product a stock line of 0. It is only transferred once the transfer plan selects it, which is what step 2 asks about. Until then nothing changes in the shop, and that is by design.
  • Stock and delivery time are two different statements. A shop showing "ships in 3 to 5 days" says nothing about the number in the store. The distinction is under stock.
