Maintaining prices

This guide walks the manual price maintenance on the individual product: choosing the tax rate, entering one row per price group you run, adding a quantity discount as a scale, and the next run takes the values into the connected system. With an imported range the prices come from the supplier file instead and are maintained there, see importing products from a file. Why a price always belongs to a price group and how net and gross relate is under prices (concepts).

Prerequisites

  • A created product, see creating and maintaining a product.
  • The price groups you run. Four come with every client. You create a further one, a trade price say, under Settings through the Prices button, see prices (reference).
  • A tax rate, so that TRADElube converts net and gross into each other. Two are present, see tax rates.

The Prices section of a product with the Tax Rate field, four collapsed price groups and the open trade price carrying three scale rows

Step by step

  1. Open the section. Open the product through the Products navigation entry and expand the Prices section. At the top sits the Tax Rate field, below it one collapsible block per price group. The field table for it is under products (reference).

  2. Choose the Tax Rate. It applies once per product and thus to all prices below. Without it TRADElube converts nothing: net and gross price are then equal.

  3. Create one row per group you run. Expand the group's block and click New. You write into exactly one of the two columns, Net Price or Gross Price, namely the one the price reaches you in: the purchase price from the supplier net, the sales price as it is displayed in the shop gross. TRADElube calculates the other side and shows it in gray. Leave the groups you do not run empty.

  4. Add a scale where quantity earns a discount. Create a further row through New and enter Quantity From. The row above follows with its Quantity To, gaps do not arise. From the second row on, the Discount column appears: you can enter the distance in per cent instead of the price, and a new row continues a recognizable discount step by itself.

  5. Save, and know the way into the target system. The price is transferred the next time the task uploading products runs. Where each price group goes is decided by the Prices section in its transfer plan. The supplied groups are usually assigned there already. One you created yourself still needs that assignment, otherwise its price sits on the product and nowhere else.

Checking the result

  • On every row the entered column appears black and the calculated one gray. That shows at a glance which side leads and whether it is the right one.
  • After the next execution the connected system shows the price of the group assigned to it, with a scale the price of the ordered quantity.
  • If the shop shows a different price from the product, the steps to the cause are under price differs.

Frequent pitfalls

  • Imported prices are maintained in the file. If your import's transfer plan assigns the price group, the next execution transferring the row overwrites your row from step 3 with the value from the file. Only groups the import does not fill are maintained by hand.
  • An empty row is a price of 0.00 €. Creating a row in step 3 without entering an amount leaves not a missing price but a free article. No price means no row. An empty block is the correct representation of a group you do not run.
  • With variants, every variant carries its own prices. A changed price on the parent article changes nothing about what the customer pays for a variant. In step 1 you therefore open the variant, see data model.
