Products Upload (Minimal)

The task writes article number, barcode, stock keeping, weight and prices into products already present in the Shopify shop. It is the alternative to Products Upload and not its complement: if one of the two is already on the channel, the other can no longer be created.

What gets transferred

Only the fields Shopify keeps on the variant. Name, description, images, collections and metafields stay untouched, and that holds even where they are maintained in TRADElube.

That is the point of the task. It is built for the case where the shop keeps the catalogue: texts and images are created in Shopify, and TRADElube contributes the figures that come from the ERP system. If you keep the catalogue in TRADElube instead, Products Upload is the right task.

Nothing is created in the process, and nothing deleted either. The task changes only what is already in the shop. The rows New Item and Removed Item are accordingly absent from the Selection section. So a product the shop does not know does not go through. That holds for a parent article too: in Shopify no article with an article number of its own corresponds to it, only its variants.

How the transfer plan is built

One plan with three sections, so no second tab bar sits above the section bar. The full task has two plans in that place.

Section What sits in it
Selection Which products get reported and how TRADElube recognizes the counterpart in the shop
Details SKU, Barcode, Inventory Tracked, Inventory Policy, Weight and Weight Unit
Prices Sales Price and Compare Price

The Existing Item row in the Selection section is mandatory here, and that is the difference the whole task hangs on. It answers how TRADElube recognizes the article in the shop: through the product number as SKU, through the manufacturer product number as barcode, or through the EAN as barcode. Without that assignment the task would not know which article to change, and it is not allowed to create one.

The assignments of the other two sections are the same as in the plan Product Variant of the full task and are described there. There are two differences: the drop-downs Assignment like Product and Individual are absent, because there is no second plan for them to refer to. And SKU is not a mandatory assignment here, because the article number in the shop is already in place. Writing it is an option and not a necessity.

Special features and limits

Stock does not go along here either. That is what Stocks Upload is for, and it runs alongside this task.

Where this task sits on the channel rather than the full one, Stocks Upload looks the article up in the shop itself instead of relying on the product transfer's channel mapping. That is described on its page.
